Hey everyone!
Here's a great update from our Pocket Driver campaign on Kickstarter in case you missed it!
The Bit Breakdown
The Bits have arrived and weigh an absolute tonne! After a few cups of tea and complaints of sore backs, the many tonnes of ancillary bits for the Pocket Driver and add-ons are all booked in and packed away, awaiting the rest of the deliveries.
PH2 and PZ2
Say hello to the worlds most used bits! The cold war between Phillips and Posidriv has been decades in the making, but with no clear winner on the horizon, we decided to supply both of them! These are the final hardened bits you'll receive, packed neatly in your Pocket Driver boxes and will let you attack most screws straight out the gate!
These two guys are also great to keep in the handle of your Pocket Driver, great for rapid deployment whenever a screw presents itself. Soon all screws will fear you.
Metric and Imperial sets
No toolbox is complete without a set of Allen keys! And since the world is still hanging on to seemingly random imperial things and loves to mix them up (why do I fill up in litres but drive in miles...? Let's not pull at that thread!), it's kinda necessary to have a set of each nowadays, or face the annoyance of a rounded hex drive after using the wrong key.
We're super happy with how these guys turned out, the finish on them looks amazing and I'm also very happy we were able to sort out a simple case for them too.
Adapter sets
Designed to fit inside the Pocket Pack, these are a curated set of handy to have adapters and extenders designed to make your life easier. My favourite is the longer 4mm adaptor and it's come in handy so many times while fiddling with electronics!
These bits have come in perfect too, and we've bundled them together in a zip lock for easy shipping.
Quick Release bits
I didn't realise how useful these things are until you start working on a long assembly job. The finish on the knurled section is much nicer than our samples too, so glad we pushed for that during pre-production!
The Separators
A middle of the campaign request and speedy design project, the Separator is designed to key together a Pocket Driver and Magnetic Bit Case. We ordered about 1000 of these and they're all currently boxed up in our warehouse, ready to go next year.
Barrel Extender Boxes
How cute are these guys! These are officially the smallest boxes we've ever made and we're all slightly obsessed with them. Anyone who ordered a Barrel Extender is in for a treat next year 😀.
The Production Numbers
I just wanted to break down some of the main products and put some numbers together to help explain where we are in the production/assembly cycle.
Epic shot of a Pocket Driver handle being machined
Black Pocket Driver - ME06-001-01
We have ordered a total amount of 3625 units and we currently have enough components to build 2450 units. The remaining components are still in production and are due to be completed early January and fully assembled by the end of January.
Black Steel Pocket Driver - ME06-002-01
We have ordered 1150 units and we currently have enough components to build all of them. These are set to be fully assembled by early January.
St. Steel Pocket Driver - ME06-003-01
We have ordered 2750 units and we currently have enough components to build 950 of them. The remaining components for these are still in production and are still on track to be completed early January. (We prioritised the Black Pocket Drivers due to them requiring a secondary surface treatment which adds to production time). We are set to assemble the remaining St. Steel Pocket Drivers by the end of January.
Magnetic Bit Case - ME06-004-01
We have ordered 2300 units and we currently have enough components to build 800 of them. The remaining components for these are still in production and are on track to be completed by the start of January. We are scheduled to assemble these mid/late January.
When we say "enough components to build" that means all of the required components to build a product are done. For the Magnetic Bit Case for example, we are mainly waiting for the brass fixings to be completed, which is a pretty speedy job.
Mountains Of MetMo Boxes
We officially took in around 9000 boxes last week and shuffled them off to our temporary warehouse around the corner (the MetMo Van's first official job!). These will stay put over Christmas, mentally preparing themselves for their epic journeys around the world next year.
Leather (in)bound
The last stitch was completed last week with the final box of Pocket Packs and Pouches packed up and loaded, ready for transporting to us. Looking forward to seeing these as we've done three pre-production runs to get these spot on, so they should be good!
Leaflet Time
8500 of these little beauties just arrived! It’s a small touch to the pocket driver, but a nice one if it's intended as a gift. We've have tucked these away for now and they're on standby for when we're packing the assembled drivers.
